AO3 meme yoinked from [personal profile] celli:

1. Most Hits: Learning Curve, MCU, gen + Steve/Natasha
An Avengers h/c fic adding on to a very popular h/c fic by Arsenic, so no surprise there! And I seem to get a lot of re-reads, going by the comments, which I'm sure helps. God knows I read The Goat's Back a million times while writing this....

2. Second Most Kudos: Out of the Frying Pan, Into the Fryer, MCU, gen (but pre-Clint/Coulson in my heart)
A meet-cute for Clint and Coulson that I posted right before The Avengers release, so no wonder. Also it's got a good summary!

3. Third Most Comments: Learning Curve again!

4. Fourth Most Bookmarks: Heartsease, Person of Interest, Reese/Finch
Ahhh, my self-indulgent Regency AU that grew a plot on me. I'm still so grateful to inmyriadbits for patiently letting me read it aloud to her when I was worried about getting the Regency verbal patterns right.

5. Fifth Most Words: Chase the sky into the ocean, Books of the Raksura, Jade/Moon
This one took a WIP Big Bang to finish, hence the word count when I'm historically prone to under-writing things, but I'm very fond of this AU. (So much action! It was fun but took forever, I don't know how Martha does it)

6. Fic With Second Fewest Words (That's Not a Drabble): Guidance, Alias/Austin Powers, gen
I'm still fond of this weird little crossover in which Dr. Evil counsels the evil dentist from the Alias pilot.

Other randomness that only works if you have X number of stories and drabbles with which to filter:

7. Seventh Most Common Relationship*: Lin Shu | Mei Changsu | Su Zhe/Mu Nihuang, Nirvana in Fire, 2 works
MCS's character tag is forever a gift, that insane identity-onion man. Also I'm ostensibly a MCS/Jingyan shipper but Nihuang cannot be denied!

*Go to your works --> sort and filter --> include (or exclude) --> relationships

8. Eighth Drabble Posted: alas, I have only written one formal drabble.

9. Ninth Most Common Character*: Thor, MCU, 4 works
Unexpected! I haven't written him as the main or POV character in anything, but he's always part of the team.

*Go to your works --> sort and filter --> include (or exclude) --> characters

10. Tenth Mature and/or Explicit Fic: The Things Underneath Our Hearts, MCU, gen
I just barely have ten fics if I include both explicit and mature, and this was the first mature one! (Probably because of the torture, I don't think Clint and Steve platonically cuddling merits a ratings upgrade.)

11. Eleventh Most Recent Completed Fic When You Exclude Your Ten Most Frequent Fandoms*: branching out, Books of the Raksura, gen
A sweet little post-canon Yuletide story where Chime wakes up to some gender stuff in the colony.

*Go to your works --> sort and filter --> exclude --> fandoms

12. Twelfth Most Recent Story in Your Sixth Most Common Tag*: alas I only have 6 stories on that tag, which is First Meetings.

*Go to your works --> sort and filter --> include --> tags

13. Favorite Title That Isn't from a Poem or Song or Shakespeare or The West Wing: Find Me, Follow Me, Banlieue 13, Leito/Damien
The third and long-delayed smutty conclusion to my B13 trilogy! The whole series is titled with phone tech terms - Crosstalk, Phone Tag, Interference - and Find me/follow me was a delightfully poetic gift of a term when I went scouring through the Wikipedia category, and perfect for the story, in which Leito follows Damien out of a meeting and they finally connect.
spatz: sparrow perched on a branch (MFU flirty Napoleon)
*cackles madly* I'd forgotten how much it fun it was to be actively writing in a fandom with ridiculous spy organizations, where Lindsey and I can legitimately brainstorm shit like 'attack cheetahs' and 'flirting with your rescuer whilst high on interrogation drugs' and 'our heroes steal part of a moving train' and 'the secret bad-guy base is at Disneyworld'.

Plus, we realized that all of Lindsey's most recent stories featured either detectives or spies or both. With The Man From UNCLE and the next Mission: Impossible movies coming out this summer, I anticipate this trend continuing. :)

Hey ya'll, anyone interested in betaing a 2500 word Miss Fisher PWP for me and [livejournal.com profile] inmyriadbits?
spatz: bare feet kicked up, beach in background (beach kicky feet)
So apparently half my flist likes Lewis, even though I have never seen any of ya'll talking about it. Adding it to the queue!

Three things for today:

1) I got a massage tonight after my shift ended. Mmmm, best employee discount ever.

2) Wrote about 700 words of a fluffy Jack/Phryne story which immediately headed into PWP territory, because Leupagus has been bewailing the lack of porn in the fandom and I was moved by her pleas. Hopefully the sex won't suck when I finish writing it; at least I'm fairly confident that the banter is up to par. :)

3) [personal profile] philomytha wrote Blessings, a Peter/Nightingale mpreg story for Rivers of London -- yes, you read that right. Mpreg is absolutely not a trope I normally enjoy, but it's [personal profile] philomytha so I dove straight in regardless. The story had me muffling my hysterical laughter on a break at work, and features a fertility goddess with a remarkably pragmatic direct approach and Nightingale being unflappable. SO GREAT.

XMFC space assassin AU
I have a vague memory that this started as a dream, but then I wrote the opening scene and had nothing else.

In retrospect, it's very Erik-as-the-Winter-Soldier, but IN SPACE! :D )

Snow White & the Huntsman
Wow, I have...no memory of writing this. Apparently I liked the movie enough to want to write fic, which must have lasted all of a week. Warnings for...overly poetic and euphemistic cunnilingus?

SPN post-S5 coda
I think I wrote this scene of Dean unpacking his duffel bag at Lisa's right after the S5 finale, and then never a) posted it or b) watched the S6 premiere. So, you know, caveat lector. Prettty sure it's been jossed.

I literally just titled the draft 'coda'. Original of me. )
spatz: B&W Erik wearing helmet, most of his face concealed (XMFC Erik helmet)
As ever, I am late, but here, have 5000 words of an XMFC no-powers AU loosely based on Notorious that I am no longer invested enough in the fandom to finish. (also Yahtzee is posting her own take on that, so I don't have to!) I'd written all the fun bits, anyway. It's a darker take on the film, so warnings for blackmail, emotionally unhealthy but consensual hate!sex, mentions of child abuse, and violence.

c&p wholesale from the draft, so pardon the random timeline notes )
spatz: cartoon bunnies on stilts with caption "dramatic character-driven stories... or stilts?" (Bunnies stories or stilts?)
So I pulled an all-nighter last night finishing the draft of my Bucky post-movie fic. I...haven't ever done that.

Well. I did take a break and write a mini-essay on Mary Pickford, so it was sort of like film school.

I also had a thought about Steve and Natasha: Read more... )

So, [archiveofourown.org profile] ardentintoxication suggested doing a DVD commentary for Learning Curve. I've always wanted to do one, and because the story is inspired by The Goat's Back universe and I clearly have a lot of feels, it seemed like a good idea at the time.

Then it got long. And then [personal profile] inmyriadbits wanted to play. And then it got a little longer. /o\

Learning Curve DVD commentary: spatz in yellow, inmyriadbits in purple )

Also! If you are still here, you are clearly a fan of this 'verse, and should check out Double the Dose by [archiveofourown.org profile] casspeach! Because more SES-verse is always a good idea, and it's got some lovely Clint and Steve and Natasha dialogue. :)

Looks like I failed out of doing a Ten in Ten proper, thanks to getting sick this weekend, but I'm hoping to get back on the horse today. We'll see.

Towards that goal, I've been rewatching Person of Interest S2 (my shiny shiny Blu-Ray discs -- I didn't think that Reese could get any prettier but apparently yes), and had forgotten just how many Die Hard references there were in 2x07 Critical. (I think Leon calling Finch 'bubbe' takes the prize, personally.) Dear POI Writers Room: please continue to be enormous film geeks. *pinches their cheeks*

*****

Tomorrow is chock full of fannish goodness:

1) Person of Interest S3 premiere. (I may die!)

2) Agents of SHIELD premiere. (Coulson did not die!)

3) [personal profile] marthawells's Star Wars tie-in starring Leia, Razor's Edge, comes out. (long live Princess Leia!)
The book is set after A New Hope, and promises to have lots of awesome ladies and Alderaanian space pirates. \o/!

*****

And a writing meme, for reasons:

Ask me a question about one of my fics or series. It can be absolutely anything in any project and I will tell you the honest-to-goodness answer (even on the progress/plans for next chapters of current series).

Don't hold back. Whatever you ask, I'll answer as truthfully and as completely as possible. You can also ask about my writing as a whole, if you like.

Hey, I just noticed it's Friday the Thirteenth! (or was, when I started writing this post) Awesome, I love when that happens.

I very much enjoyed this article about bro culture, which also features one of the clearest definitions of what that is that I have read. (just don't read the comments: I accidentally paged down once too far and the first five alone were simply appalling.)

Big Bang 3 - Revenge of the Banged:

Scenes to complete: 1!
Segues to write: 0!
Scenes to write in entirety: 1. And it's only the most important emotional scene in the story, no big deal, I should totally be writing that at the last moment. :\

And as bonus, some terrible puns from the editing process so far --

[livejournal.com profile] inmyriadbits: I think you need a period here.
ME: Okay. It is a period piece.

[livejournal.com profile] inmyriadbits: I'm not sure you need a horizontal rule after that scene.
ME: Sure. I'm not married to the idea.

As it is now 3:30 and I have been unsuccessfully trying to sleep for four and a half hours, I have decided to give up. Instead, let me tell ya'll about the funny thing that happened this evening. Apparently, it was a day for hilarious stranger incidents:

[knocking on door around 7pm]
ME: [opens door] Hello?
YOUNG WOMAN WITH PASTA SAUCE: Hi, can you open this jar for me?
ME: Uh, sure?
YOUNG WOMAN WITH PASTA SAUCE: I live next door, I was just trying to make dinner...
ME: [open jar easily, because I'm a massage therapist]
YOUNG WOMAN WITH PASTA SAUCE: Thanks! [runs off, literally, before I can ask her name]
ME: [closes door, starts laughing hysterically]

Kids these days, right? *g*

(Okay, she was like maybe three years younger than me, but I feel like an old old lady these days. Maybe I'll go over with some of the beer that survived the party and get her name, she was kinda cute.)

The Big Bang saga continues:

Word Count: 8,843 / 10,000 minimum
Scenes to complete: 2

Scenes to write wholesale: 1. Still the balcony scene. *sigh*

spatz: Finch peering into air duct (POI Finch peer)
I have just been re-reading Opacity of Paradise and was seized by a sudden, passionate desire to put Finch and Garak in the same room, so they can be dryly sarcastic and critique each other's tailoring while being secretive badasses.

Today has been very quiet and scattered, possibly to make up for this weekend being supremely busy - [livejournal.com profile] inmyriadbits and I threw a spy-themed party, and there was so much alcohol. Seriously, we came out with more alcohol than we bought, and we had a *lot* to start with. But I am triumphant that we managed to throw three separate friend groups together and make it work, plus I managed to keep my red fedora on all night. (I had multiple people think I was Carmen Sandiego. Hmmm, maybe I can do that for Halloween.) And I was...uh, educated about The Fox. WTF, so amazing and ridiculous. I don't think I can ever watch it again for fear of permanently imprinting the tune on my brain, though. Three days later and I am still humming it, argh.

*****

Update on the big bang: I wrote half a scene today! Except oh god, still so much left. Why did I think this was a good idea. (Oh, right: Reese feels. He is a bad influence.) Naturally, my brain is wanting to do [personal profile] astolat's Ten in Ten Challenge instead, and I'm shoving a pillow over its face until after the 15th.
spatz: Joan Watson clutching her head in exasperation (Elementary Joan headache)
Oh god, apparently I am now that fan who starts a fight in the comments of the Yuletide rules post, thereby causing a panic and harshing everyone's squee. *headdesk* I imagine the spirit of Yuletide will prevail; I just wish people weren't misunderstanding the new rule as DQ'ing all the sub-fandoms, just that the mods *may* rule one ineligible. (Also, I wish Elementary wasn't disqualified. D:)

...I suppose since, as of next month, I will have spent over half my life in fandom, it was about time I got my BOFQ membership card. It still comes with a 'get off my lawn you kids' stick and free dialup, right?

I'm trying to decide it would help or not to suggest that they just eliminate the If the character is in the main character in the fandom, the fandom itself may be ruled ineligible part of the new rule but keep the 'no characters are eligible with over 2000 works' part, thereby allowing people to request the permutation fandoms but only with minor characters. You'll still have a problem if you want to request, say, Holmes/Watson fic for A Study in Emerald, or Arthur/Guinevere/Lancelot fic for Arthurian legend, or a Joan Watson character study, but you could get around a lot using the optional details. *eyes comment thread warily* Maybe in the morning.

Ahahaha, Clint Barton. Look how not surprised I am. Thor's a little surprising, since I always feel like I forget about him, but he just popped up higher than Tony Stark (2), Dean Winchester (2), and Sam Winchester (2) for some reason. Sorry, boys.

Pairings:

Harold Finch/John Reese (4)
Cal Beecher/Joss Carter (1)
