End of year fandom meme 2012
Your main fandom of the year?
Avengers. Seriously, I saw it 5 times in theaters plus who knows how many rewatches on my computer, plus nearly doubling my fic count in the last 8 months. I haven't been this active/obsessed with a fandom since Supernatural started. Maybe since Firefly.
Your favorite film you watched this year?
Avengers. Yup.
Favorite art film is a tie between Moonrise Kingdom and Beasts of the Southern Wild, favorite animated was Wreck-It Ralph (♥), and favorite documentary goes to Trash Dance, which is an insanely charming story about a woman who choreographed a dance with a bunch of garbage workers and their equipment. You laugh, but the crane solo *will* make you tear up.
Your favorite book read this year?
Hmmm. I'm going to cheat and go with the whole Girl With the Dragon Tattoo series, all the way back in January.
Your favorite album or song to listen to this year?
Empires, Garage Hymns.
Your favorite tv show of the year?
Nikita! Why isn't everyone watching this show? It's going on three seasons of pure Bechdel test-passing, morally-complex spy shenanigans with a seriously kickass ensemble cast/slow build spy family. I love all of it and everyone. ♥
Your best new fandom discovery of the year?
The Bletchley Circle! Thank you, Tumblr, for telling me to watch this awesome miniseries about a group of WWII female codebreakers who team up again years later to catch a serial killer. This is everything I love.
Your biggest fandom disappointment of the year?
No Black Widow movie. :( That better just be a 'yet'. C'mon, Marvel, snap to it.
Your fandom boyfriend of the year?
Clint Barton! It's a close call with Steve Rogers and Phil Coulson, who are also the best, but Clint's the one I can't stop writing about.
Your fandom girlfriend of the year?
Ooh. It's been a good year for the ladies. Natasha Romanoff wins, but Nikita, Pepper Potts, Susan from Bletchley Circle, and Kate Bishop are also amazing. I can be polyamorous, right?
Your biggest squee moment of the year?
COULSON LIVES!!!! (not that it was a surprise, but I was so very pleased)
The most missed of your old fandoms?
Supernatural. I really want to catch up, I just know it's going to be a lot of heavy bullshit wading.
The fandom you haven't tried yet, but want to?
Ahahaha, this list is long. Top tier is Homeland, Community, and The Walking Dead.
Your biggest fan anticipations for the coming year?
Um. SXSW? I stopped watching trailers, it's working well for me. Oh, I know! The SHIELD tv show. Except I'm not 100% sure if that's set for next fall or not, TV development being what it is.
