Uh, wow.
That might be the the slashiest episode of television I have EVER seen. And that's counting the first episode of Starsky & Hutch, in which they get naked together twice (or maybe three times?) and go to a porno and confess ultimate trust in each other.
(...okay, maybe that's a tie.)
But I mean, really. PERSONAL SPACE. WE TALKED ABOUT THIS. Dean's the only person who'll help him! Straightening his tie and buttoning his shirt! The most fun he's had in years! Castiel adopting Dean's little phrases in most awkward Cas manner ever! Dean opened up about John *voluntarily*! And their sarcasm-deadpan duet was possibly the funniest thing I've seen on the show since the Christmas episode.
I am OVER THE FREAKING MOON and in no condition to be coherent, wow. I guess I'll just have to watch the episode again, oh no. Sam's storyline was also good and full of interesting myth-arc stuff, and I don't buy Dean's speech in the Impala at the end for a second (he's so obviously lonely), and I'm hoping they don't go overboard on ComicRelief!Cas, but I can't talk about that right now!
Also: next week is going to hit about fifteen different story kinks of mine. Damn, I've missed being this excited about a TV show.

I'm not sure I'd go THAT far (mostly because I can't decide which takes the cake), but it has definitely moved into the top levels of my list. Also on it: Mounty on the Bounty, Call of the Wild, Thespis...
I really want someone to write the scene where they "talked about this," because we sure as hell didn't get to see that scene (which also implies that Dean and Cas' interactions have not been limited to what we've been shown). :)
Castiel was cracking me up. HE'S SO VERY AWKWARD AND BAD AT BEING NORMAL, I LOVE HIM. (I also love that his tie went crooked again shortly after Dean straightened it.) He plays a great straight-man for Dean, and in a completely different way than Sam does. It's fantastic. I can't wait until we get some eps where all three of them interact. The whole "God is dead" storyline was a good balance to the comedy, too; Cas has all his eggs in that basket, and it was nice to see a hint of the devastation he would feel if this doesn't turn out. I can't help but think that God's disappearance was a kind of trial of faith for the angels; it really only took them a century to get tired and start a damn apocalypse? I think Cas' faith is going to become a rather important factor this season. Anyway, I also loved their conversation; I like the way the writers are framing their Big Theological Questions in ways that are so grounded -- it's not about an abstract word like "faith," it's about the way Dean felt when he kept looking for his dad against all odds.
Oh, Dean was kind of breaking my heart this episode. I mean, it was so good to see him laughing and having fun, but he was so clearly unhappy and lonely underneath. He's running away from his responsibilities as much as Sam is -- and I can't blame either of them for wanting to. The talking about John, though, that was unexpected. Although perhaps it shouldn't have been; Dean seems to have finally crested the rise of his epic daddy issues, at least enough to talk about his dad. The problem with finally being free to make your own decisions, though, is making the right ones, and not just doing the knee-jerk opposite of what you've been doing. Dean needs to choose to pick up that burden again, and not because his father told him or because Sam expects him to or because he doesn't have anything else, but because he loves Sam and doesn't want to see him hurt -- a point which I'm guessing next episode is going to make, what with evil!white!suit!Sam.
Sam was breaking my heart the mostest this ep. (It's really weird, btw, when a prominent character has your name. For the record.) The poor kid just can't catch a break. (although, plz to be having more shirtless scenes and scenes where he throws grown men around like it's nothing. :D) I'm really worried about him; the boy would not be stable anyway, but without Dean, he's really got nothing to fall back on. He can't even rely on himself, because he has crazy self-doubt AND the devil gunning for him with an unfortunately effective (against Sam) argument about inevitability. *hugs Sam* FIX THIS, WRITERS.
Oh my GOD, next week's episode is going to be so much fun! The word "orgy" passes Castiel's lips, for one thing, not to mention the zombies and the TWO DEANS and evil!Sam. *dies of happiness*
