I read this article about possible plots and arcs for Supernatural (nothing spoilery past Hollywood Babylon), and started thinking about stories I'd love to see on the show. Ones that are, y'know, remotely plausible.

1) Haunted Train
I actually started thinking about this when I read through Project Urban Legend, but the article got it right, too. Seriously - Sam can make Hitchcock jokes! Dean can threaten to throw him off the train! It's basically a box episode, too, which I always love. And I imagine production wouldn't be too hard, either, with only a couple of sets to build.

2) Cage Match
I blame [livejournal.com profile] ignipes, especially since the only rationale I can come up with is a demonic cult that thrives on blood sports. But who wouldn't love to see Sam and Dean go head-to-head? Bonus points for amnesia or control collars spells.

3) New Blood
I want to see hunters that aren't from Middle America, suburbia, or the good-ol'-boy flannel-wearing culture that dominates the show. I love it, but I want some ex-academic spellcaster or an urban socialite with poison nails or a librarian with a cross-referencing program running on their computer or a musician with a backroom full of records, rare books, and a katana collection. I want to see if there are any other hunters out there crazy enough to hunt with their children. Hell, I want Claudia Black to guest star as an experienced international hunter who jetsets around the world for high-profile hunts. Bonus points if she goes after Sam.

4) Curses
We've seen lots of hauntings and monsters and possessions, but no curses since Bugs. If the boys themselves get cursed, you could do anything from whacky hijinks (bodyswap, uncontrollable hair growth, pheromones) to serious brotherly-worry angst (illness, old wounds unheal themselves progressively, coma, hallucinations, car trouble *g*). I'd even be happy with a curse B-plot: get cursed at the beginning of the ep (end of last hunt), and have to deal with it through the main plot.

5) War Stories
Wouldn't it be cool to have a bunch of old hunters sitting around telling stories about hunts they'd been on, or stories they'd heard about the Winchesters? You could get the Tall Tales unreliable narration plus outsider POV (yes, addicted to it, I know), and Ellen smirking in the background and getting to have the final word.

I just gave myself a bunch of plot bunnies, didn't I? *sigh*

ETA: I can't believe I forgot bodyswapping and Bruce Campbell as a guest star.

Something else I wish for: the second half of [livejournal.com profile] mistful's one-shot from this morning. I'm deeply addicted to her Drop Dead Gorgeous universe, because she takes a crack!fic plot (Harry is part Veela! No, *really*) and writes very believable characters, reactions, and dynamics in a post-war world. Maya has this unique mixture of insanity and pathos in her writing that really gets to me - I'll cackle one second and feel like I got punched in the heart the next, and there's fantastic running UST that doesn't let up. It's been a while since I haven't been impatient/annoyed by an unrequited crush plotline, but that feeling dragged me into fandom six years ago and I'd forgotten how much I love it.
