Thursday night TV

Tonight's theme: feminist annoyance! Not all the way to rage. In fact, I feel like pulling a Danny and taking a day off from having values. Manana, manana.

Okay, so the club place was theoretically mixed-gender because the murdered pair hooked up there, but when they actually went all the "eaters" were women and all the "feeders" were men. HUH. ISN'T THAT INTERESTING. >:|

I do like how all the interns are getting developed this season. Daisy and the guy with the fake accent (Arasto?) were totally redeemed in my eyes earlier this season, and Wendell had scholarship issues and hooked up with Angela (!), and now Edison is sharing personal information! I am pleased.

The show is also handling the ongoing UST quite well, IMO. I sense resolution by season's end. Or at least, there better be some, or it'll be past ridiculous and into absurd. Pops Booth was a shameless yenta (both textually and as a plot device), but it was a nice dynamic to see Brennan so willing to be caught up in their little family circle. And his scenes with Sweets were interesting - some vague hints at Sweets' adoptive parents, who were presumably around that age if they died recently.

Overall, an underwhelming episode made better by the company of [livejournal.com profile] junebug_waltz.

I was really hoping this ep would get me all excited going into the hiatus, but I'm mostly just sick at heart - emotionally, that they killed Ellen and Jo, and critically, that they killed the two remaining female characters they had left.

I was sold on Lucifer for the first time, this ep. He's all calm and charismatic and BUGNUTS CRAZY under the surface. Well played, Mark Pelligrino. Also, always nice to see Mark Sheppard. Someone get that man his own TV show already.

Some random thoughts are flickering around - who are the other 4 beings that the Colt can't kill, the archangels? God? Are all of Castiel's powers declining, or can he only get certain things done (as he said in 502 to Bobby)? - but mostly I'm just going to dig in and hope the show swings into gear after break.

Luckily, I have some shiny new shows to distract me, like Castle (fun and fannish-friendly), and [livejournal.com profile] junebug_waltz just got me hooked on Greek (adoooorable), and I'm having an Avatar: The Last Airbender renaissance after getting my mom hooked. More on that later.
