White Collar pilot = YAY
I held off on posting this until today because I didn't want to tempt
inmyriadbits away from her paper, but OMG WHITE COLLAR. NEW FAVORITE.
Seriously, it's like someone took my favorite part of Catch Me If You Can and had a sweet, sweet orgy with Leverage, Burn Notice, and my favorite character types (clever conmen/thieves and competent law enforcement) to produce the beautiful snarky child that is White Collar.
I haven't been that gleeful during a pilot episode since, like, Burn Notice. Or so deeply happy with the pretty, rowr, hello Matthew Bomer. I really need to watch Chuck, huh? (also, if I was a guy, I would be making *so* many boner puns here)
His *hat*! And of course he's a Sinatra fan, he probably has the original Ocean's Eleven memorized. Honestly, the parallels to Catch Me If You Can were so strong, I thought for *sure* someone would reference Frank Abagnale at the meeting Neal won for identifying the fibers.
Peter's wife is a refreshing change from the usual cop wife character - smart, wickedly funny, clearly in love after ten years of marriage, and gorgeous in a comfortable, curvy way.
ignipes is totally right in her vote for threesome fic!
Speaking of curves, I look forward to having Natalie Morales back on my TV, so much. If anyone else was replacing Diana (who wants to wear the hat, lol), I would be pissed, but NM! \o/ (in fact, she's the reason White Collar was even on my radar)
I saw the "chasing a fugitive" resolution from a mile away, but they played it so well I didn't care. I love the implication that Neal picked open the office cabinet just so he could be all "O hay look at the Spanish bond!" when Peter arrived. While smoking a Cuban cigar. The boy knows the art of presentation. *g*
I love the breezy fun quality of the show, the smart writing (dialogue and story), the genuine respect and snarky professionalism between the main characters, the sense that being *smart* is going to be more important to the show than being flashy, the competence and depth of the characters, Peter's gleeful I-am-good-at-my-job kinda-bastard attitude, Neal's genuine charm and confidence, and the awesome cast.
My only complaint? Criminal (heh) under-use of Mark Sheppard. And if they continue the Kate storyline, they better give us some screentime to pin our interest to, not just backstory monologue. The bottle story worked for the pilot, which has other priorities, but it ain't gonna cut it for long.
Also, the new conmen/tricksters/thieves comm
thebigstore is just in time to catch the fannish wave, methinks. (ps, seekrit message to Lindsey - you should totally finish off your post on The Big Con and put it up there.)

I was at Best Buy earlier, and took some time to drool over the boxsets I cannot afford, like Supernatural. I was amused that all the cover art is basically the same: the boys, large and shiny against a dark backdrop (usually involving headstones somehow), with the Impala lurking behind. EXCEPT for the S4 boxset, which has Castiel lurking in the background. LMAO. (don't worry, darling Impala,Dean fandom still loves you best)

I feel like we'll see little chips and chunks of the Kate storyline, just from that picture with the hand on her shoulder. She kind of looked unhappily coerced. DUN DUN DUN.

HEARTS. HEARTS IN MY EYES.
God. It's like they didn't think the CMIYC setup plus Matthew Bomer just wasn't enough to hook me for life. (P.S. Watch Chuck. If you think he's hot now, just wait and see him being a badass superspy with bonus making out with Yvonne Strahovski. Oh, yeah.) No, they had to go add (in no particular order) a) snark, b) vintage clothes, c) , d) NYC, e) good writing!, f) canonical gay character, g) Mark Sheppard, h) awesome FBI agent who is i) all upright and j) loves his job <3, k) his awesome wife who has l) smarts and m) class, n) Matthew Bomer shirtless, o) while reading a book so he can p) help catch a criminal in q) the most obnoxious, sneaky way possible,
r) JUNE, who is s) played by Diahann Carroll and t) plays poker and u) takes young conmen home with her, v) references to an "art store" (LINGO WHAT UP), w) loving close-ups of MB's eyes, x) the writers practically handing us the OT3, y) breaking out of prison with a tape deck, and finally
z) promo pics like this (http://pics.livejournal.com/hypertwink/pic/00010tk0).
And then I'm pretty sure Natalie Morales joins the cast next week in place of the awesome probie (which, *snerk*).
Like a WHOLE ALPHABET OF AWESOME wasn't enough. *passes out from sheer fannish glee* :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
Also, I totally want a million Leverage crossovers now. Right?

Kate's actress is going to be recurring, so you're probably right! I dunno, maybe she'll turn out to be awesome and a suitable love interest for Neal, but I'm skeptical.
