Doctor Who
I am over the moon about Doctor Who's third season. I tried to love the Tenth Doctor last year, and I did love the way Tennant played him at odd moments, but he and Rose were driving me nuts with the smugness and the superiority and the way they were hardly ever serious, even when they should've been.
But this season has been totally awesome, I'm head over heels all over again. New New New Doctor, as it were. I also adore Martha: she's smart, funny, capable, stubborn, and asks questions (more than just curiosity - she clarifies and tries to make sense of the world. Worlds, actually *g*). She trusts the Doctor but doesn't let him get away with his BS, like Rose used to do in S1.
The people in the opening sequence looked awfully familiar, didn't they? Oh, show, so dorktastic, so silly.
The Doctor talking about Gallifrey killed me each time. And the "I was too busy showing off" bit.
So glad Martha called him on taking her where Rose traveled. Because it's true.
Completely insane and a bit magnificent - how true. And the bandana! How very traditional train-robber of him. Was the crack about 'not my color' a ref to that blue suit he was in earlier this season? Really, I have to agree.
The Senate with all the dead bodies was uber-creepy. Well done. Though I wish they'd left out the virus bit, and had everyone die from being too Blissed-out to move, like those rats that chose the pleasure button over food until they died.
Daleks again? God, they're like cockroaches. *sigh* Always food for angst, though, yay ;) And I'm looking forward to Martha's reaction.

And I am in total agreement. Total. Although.. Bliss = Pax might have been just that little too scary. :D

Hee, "kitteny daftness." She's right. This show is such an odd, utterly convincing combination of goofy and epic, personal and universal. *squishes it* I missed it so....

I admit, I'm a New Who watcher only, so I didn't mind the romance. What pissed me off was Rose's (and the Doctor's) cavalier attitude in S2, their hubris and codependence. We also lost Rose's compassion - they name-checked it a couple of times, but we didn't *see* it like in S1. I had many issues with S2.
