Marathon Girl

This weekend has been one of extended outings. I want to sleep, but of course I am plagued by homework.

Friday was bridge club. Yes, I'm a total nerd, but it was great fun. We ended up playing until 11 (after starting at 4!), so we saw the snow fall. Also, I learned how to play rummy, which will be useful the next time someone tries to make me play War.

Saturday was swing dancing. Three workshops in the afternoon until 6:30 - swing-out variations, moves, and footwork - followed by a 5 minute dinner, a flashdance before the Film Series' showing of Swing Time, and three more hours of social dancing at the monthly Vinnie's gathering. I'm super-excited about next month, when a guy's coming from Boston for a musicality workshop. We're also running a student workshop on Tuesday for 365 Plays, 365 Days.

Honestly, my feet still hurt.

Then, today I had to walk far away from campus because the Brooks photo lab broke just in time for a composition assignment for my film class. And, at the risk of sounding like a whiny Southerner, it's cold. Mainly because I left at 4, and the sun was already going down. *Kermit face*

On the (slightly) more entertaining side, I had a whacky dream last night. Initially, I was a character in a group that got sucked into a parallel universe, except we were from a sort of steampunk universe. The new universe was more traditionally medieval, so we found a castle where some sort of murders had taken place, and it was haunted and the lighting was very Supernatural-esque. I kept getting chased around and there were military factions and whatnot. The story strayed from realism at that point, and the culprit looked like the Nightmare Before Christmas guy (Jack Skellington?) and there was some sort of bomb about to go off? Yeah.

The dream shifted at that point: the first section was a new book by [livejournal.com profile] marthawells, and I was in a seminar led by [livejournal.com profile] researchgrrrl, which was located in my Austin bedroom for some obscure reason (any ideas, Kim? *waggles eyebrows*). I was sitting where the closet is - WTF? I can't remember what we discussed, but Kim had two large books in front of her: one on alchemy and one on explosives *g*. I do remember thinking that we both knew Martha (and were Texans?) and that should be included in the discussion, but we were both being discreet, or something.

My brain is weird, ya'll.

In other news, my history professor is adorable and I have a brain-crush. His teaching style and philosophy is reminiscent of my favorite high school teacher, and he's like a cross between David Tennant's Doctor and Marc on Ugly Betty - catty/dorky/hilarious with eyebrows that jump around like grasshoppers.

Hands off, madam! He's mine my school's, and quite probably not interested in girls anyway. Nice try, though.

(*squee* Anastasia icon! That may be the hottest animated kiss evah!)

PFFT. I care not about either of those things! I WANT HIM. You have my address, please get on that! ;)

(I have a DEEP LOVE for Anastasia. And therefore by default Anastasia/Dimitri.)

Also, I was going to email you later but I'm lazyyyy so! I don't suppose you have any Jake 2.0 recs? I'm only through episode 9 because I'm watching with Lisa, but I NEED fanfiction. And anything else that you feel might be important to my fannish obsessing!

No! Not sharing! *is four*

(Mmm, yes yes. Snarky conmen always get me.)

Jake 2.0 has a DEEP and TRAGIC almost-lack of fic. Tara LJC (http://ljconstantine.com/fanfic/j20.htm) is the best and most prolific author, and a Jake/Diane shipper. She also runs the fandom's only archive (http://www.loony-archivist.com/jmd/) and pokes a ficathon into existence every once in a while. She also runs the following:

Trollprincess has written some, but I have to run and have no time to look for them! Sorry.
