Dear Yuletide Author
Dear Yuletide Author,
Hooray! It's that time again! Thank you for writing a story for me, and for loving the same tiny fandoms that I do. If you'd like additional prompts, thoughts, and/or flailing about my requested fandoms and general preferences, please read on - but of course you're welcome to just use the baseline requests if that's not helpful.
To anyone wandering by looking to write treats - I am delighted by them and have my AO3 settings set to accept gifts. \o/!

DNWS/SQUICKS
-incest: my absolute hardline no - if you write this for me, I will not read it at all, DNW
-amputation/maiming: no depiction of amputation/permanently disabling injuries or their immediate aftermath. Amputee/disabled characters are fine, I just find reading about the actual trauma very distressing and don't want to be reading your gift through my fingers.
-infidelity/adultery: I can read this, but it almost always makes me loathe the betraying character, which is no fun (unless they're the villain, I guess). Please avoid!
-evil AUs (mobsters, willing villains, serial killers): not a squick, I'm just aggressively not into these. (stories where someone is forced to do terrible things under duress = my jam! voluntary evil = very not!)
-main character death: canonical/past/minor character death is fine, but for Yuletide I'd rather not read anything about my requested characters dying.
-daddy/mommy kink: I think this one's a corollary to the incest squick? I enjoy power dynamics or BDSM umbrella kink, but as soon as someone says or thinks 'daddy/mommy' in a erotic scene, my libido = killed. No thank you.
-ageplay: ditto
I generally have no preference between gen and shippy stories, and love a wide range of (a)sexuality, kinks, and relationship types that seem in-character. If I do ship something and mention it in the fandom details below), please don't feel obliged to write it if you don't ship it - I will enjoy gen for any of these characters just as much, and you should get to write a story you love, too. Optional details are optional!
Fandoms & Prompts
After the Storm
Trimmer
The series is understandably focused on Rich's social/sexual trauma and his healing, but Trimmer is such a fascinating mess too, I want more about him. I love h/c so I'd love to see his POV on their time on the ship from hell and meeting Rich and surviving, and/or his recovery (I'm sure he and his therapist get along GREAT lolol) or the events of the book, or he and Rich actually talking out some of their assumptions and habits (both good and maladaptive) from their dysfunctional starting point, and working into a more healthy friendship (though still a spiky one, I'm sure). Or just - worldbuilding about Trimmer and his family and their heritage and generational trauma (everybody in this world has some)! Trimmer having a nice day on his own! Trimmer and his terrifying grandma! Trimmer having a nice day not on his own! More Trimmer!!!
If you're not familiar with this canon, and you like the sound of a novel about a traumatized sweetheart recovering from living in hell for a couple of years, set in a diverse post-apocalyptic society living on a fleet of ships in Lake Michigan and want to try it out in a fit of Yuletide curiosity, the book can be read for free online and I have a whole post flailing about it here on Tumblr. There's also a bunch of mostly porny sequel shorts/novellas but they're focused on Rich and you have to buy them here, so not necessary for this prompt but if you get into the series I hope you enjoy!
Goblin Emperor
Maia, Csevet, Thara
[any combination]
I would love to read a story with any combination of these three: Csevet's POV on Thara back in TGE, Maia and Csevet finding out about Thara's misadventures in TGOS, the three of them meeting again in the future all settled into themselves, Csevet backstory (always!), Csevet and Maia's mutual loyalty and devotion and affection, Thara and Iana inching closer to being together, Thara dealing with his loss of his gift post-TGOS, Thara's first encounter with a ghoul, Thara and Tomasaran sorting out their personal and professional and student-teacher relationship after the upset of TGOS, Tomasaran's (changing) perspective on Thara, etc. etc.
My prompt from last year is also still relevant: I loved The Grief of Stones but I was DYING for a little more comfort for Thara at the end of it. Poor man, just let him rest! (okay, no, I do also enjoy watching him suffer nobly, and being stoically competent and unintentionally intimidating and endlessly compassionate. But a little gentleness for him would be nice after all that trauma, and that's what fanfic is for!) I do enjoy Thara and IƤna's relationship if you want go romantic, and I'd be curious to see Maia's outside POV on the events in Amalo (you can't tell me Maia who loves wonder tales and his friends would not be all over the news about the ghoul or the revethavar), or Tomasaran's thoughts on Thara, or more glimpses into Thara's backstory.
Nine Worlds
Ludvic Omo
There is just not enough fic focused on Ludvic! He's a quiet person and I'm sure he'd prefer it that way, but it just makes me want to dig into his secrets and significant amount of trauma (like...basically everyone in this series, tbh). Like, Kip never really pushes about his response to touching the Emperor - what kind of state of mind was he already in to just resign himself to execution like that? Woodlark is of course a huge shadow over everything - and the reveal in ATFOTS that Ludvic handled that partly but trying to build a community center for his dislocated people was just! LUDVIC PLEASE, I already adore you too much.
Also: HE KNEW ABOUT THE EMPEROR'S SECRET IDENTITY THE WHOLE GODDAMN TIME!!! You could 100% write a five-thing fic about THAT, oh my god. Or times he wanted to tell other people about it. Five times he just barely kept himself from laughing while on guard duty. All of his feelings about his Ludvic-secretly-considers-him-an-uncle liege lord and famous poet, who probably has a million stories about the father he never met but Ludvic is too busy stoically keeping his secret to ask.
Oh my god, speaking of: the guards' book club! I have been obsessed with that since I read Feonie's short story, and Ludvic 'I was illiterate until I was an adult but I write romantic poetry in my head and recited it to my lord one time and he remembered it so well he wrote it down for me' Omo SURELY knows about/is part of that club. Really, anything about that Ludvic and his relationship to stories/books/word/poetry (which is I'm sure tied up in his knowing about Masseo and Fitzroy as well as his own work).
Look, this man is full of Secrets and Emotions and I just want to crack him open like a nut to get at them. Sadly I don't think we'll get a book from his POV (prove me wrong, Victoria!), so I'll have to beg for fanfic. <3
ETA: I have read all the Lays of the Hearthfire books (including the new Conju novella) and all the Red Company books except Derring-Do, so spoilers shouldn't be an issue!
The Mummy
Ardeth Bay
I was delighted to see this fandom become eligible again - I'd been planning to request it the year it got too large. PLEASE feel free to ignore The Mummy 3. The fandom mostly does, but I strongly encourage you in this.
Anyway: Ardeth, my beloved! I just adore his competence and loyalty (to his cause, and eventually to the O'Connells) and bravery and stubbornness. And his face. I'm in favor of Ardeth/Evy/Rick, and can be convinced of Ardeth/Jonathan, but I'd also adore an independent adventure for him.
I have a strong craving for Ardeth vs Nazis. Egypt was kind of a political and military clusterfuck in WWII, but I think we can all agree that the Medjai taking on Nazis seeking out ancient magical artifacts would be a damn good time, yes? If you wanted to take a more angsty track, I'm also interested in how the Medjai deal with the aftermath of their huge losses in The Mummy 2, how they deal with the modernization/colonization of their region, and how Ardeth specifically copes with his own losses and multiple canon near-death experiences and the weight of leadership.
Hooray! It's that time again! Thank you for writing a story for me, and for loving the same tiny fandoms that I do.
