I watched all the episodes thus far this season, which have been patiently gathering dust while I waited on Lindsey. Once I gave up on that tactic, it went very quickly.
First, I love the character development this season. Lex's story arc has me in constant agony, because he's precisely on the edge between the Lex we love and Nemesis!Lex. He could turn either way at any instant, and it's ripping me apart that he ends up going the wrong direction. Michael Rosenbaum is fucking amazing. Someone find him an Emmy, hmm?
Clark has really grown up this season. Things are turning greyish and fuzzy on the edges, and the writers are actually making him pay for his past relationship screwups. The resolution with Chloe was a perfect example, and yet another sign that Chloe is much cooler than Lana, for the simple reason that she is willing to wait until Clark is ready to tell her.
I'm thrilled with AM's acting: her scenes with Lionel, Lex, Clark, and Lana just glow. She plays Chloe with heart and good sense, and a bright edge of curiosity. Why won't TPTB wake up and smell the Chlark?
Okay, if trust issues were dollars, Lana would be richer than Lionel. I've always hoped that Lana would grow a spine, and I loved Adam for kicking her in the ass early in the season. Her scenes with Lex were also unexpectedly good, though that may just be the Lex factor. I've come to realize that my past hatred of her character is based in the dull cyclical sinkhole of can-I-trust-Clark-yes-no-maybe-so? It's not the actors' fault, it seems: TW and KK generated quite a bit of heat in Relic as Joe and Louise. It's the way Clark and Lana's scenes together founder under the weight of all their emotional baggage. The only chemistry I find is when they are *actually* acting like friends, instead of claiming to be so while they secretly cast longing glances over their shoulders. Argh!
I occasionally find myself wishing Martha would bitchslap some sense into Clark, but she's been sadly deficient on the BadAssMomma front. Well, not everyone can be Irina Derevko.
The plot arcs have been much better this season, as well. Most of the Freaks of the Week have served the underlying themes and the character development. There have been some fun references to comics canon. I squee'd so loudly when Chloe used Lois Lane as a pseudonym. Has anyone heard any good specs on this? I have a plot bunny brewing with Chloe becoming Lois Lane, but I was curious if fandom agrees, or if they think Lois will suddenly show an interest in journalism.
Okay, enough babble. I'm off to read my archives of SV fics&recs from my flist, a very long and not-so-arduous task ;)

(Psst. PRESENT! *pokes* Look at your dresser or wherever you said it was. See that look that's trying to make you send it? That's the look that will haunt you forever.)

Oh, and your handwriting looks exactly like my best friend's. It freaks me out, 'cause it's identical.

We're just finishing up editing on the litmag for this year, which is more fun than I thought. I ended up editing my own story, and I'm trying to decide if it's hubris to put it up in my LJ. What do you think?

I think you should! It'd be cool to read! *nods firmly* Yes. I think you definitely should.
